In the second part of the news, I'll start with Valve's efforts to turn Steam into sh!t

FURTHER STEAM SECURITY CHANGES DETAILED

http://www.pcgamer.com/further-steam-security-changes-detailed/

In November, Valve introduced a system of trade holds to limit miscreants' ability to access others' Steam accounts and trade skins away. The three-day hold was intended to let the rightful owner realise something was up and step in to stop it, because hat theft isn't a sporadic problem—Valve reports that over 77,000 accounts get cleaned out each month. Now Gabe Corp. is strengthening protection by extending trade holds and ending its practice of replacing lost items.

>>15 f*cking days? Are you kidding me? *facepalm*

NO MAN'S SKY WILL BE A FULL PRICED TITLE, ACCORDING TO REMOVED SONY LISTING

http://www.pcgamer.com/no-mans-sky-will-be-a-full-priced-title-according-to-removed-sony-listing/

Earlier today a mysterious listing for No Man's Sky appeared on the US PlayStation blog. It's since been removed, but it caused quite a fuss. Although it listed No Man's Sky under the pre-order section (indicating that it'll be available for pre-order later this week, on PS4 at least), it also featured the text "out 3/3".

TOWERFALL CREATOR SHOWS WORK ON EIGHT-PLAYER MODE

http://www.pcgamer.com/towerfall-creator-shows-work-on-eight-player-mode/

Towerfall Ascension creator Matt Thorson seemed duly impressed when he tweeted last January about a mod that brought eight-player support to the multiplayer platformer-brawler. But going by a recently-tweeted screenshot of the TortoiseHg shell extension and the words, “Let's see if I can do this before GDC,” it now seems that he's decided to make it official.

ROLLERCOASTER TYCOON WORLD VIDEO SHOWCASES DIY THEME PARK CREATION

http://www.pcgamer.com/rollercoaster-tycoon-world-video-showcases-diy-theme-park-creation/

Atari's new Rollercoaster Tycoon World video takes a closer look at how players will be able to create their own in-game content, including objects, scenery, and “peeps,” and then share them with the world through the Steam Workshop. I'm always a bit dubious when I'm told how easy content creation will be, but Atari seems committed to keeping the process as simple as possible. Those with the time, skills, and applicable software can create and import brand-new content, but it's also possible to just snag a model online and use the RCTW plugin to import it into the game.

Not the easiest way to do it. Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDl-303a9Qc

ALAN WAKE’S RETURN TRAILER HIDDEN IN QUANTUM BREAK

http://www.pcgamer.com/alan-wakes-return-trailer-hidden-in-quantum-break/

I largely stuck to the beaten path for my Quantum Break hands-on last week, which it now turns out was a terrible mistake. Polygon reports that if you decide to go wandering in the game’s opening section set on a university campus, you’ll eventually stumble across a student demonstration, and a tent with a flat screen TV inside, on which a trailer for Alan Wake’s Return is playing.

THE NECRON OVERLORD IS COMING TO DAWN OF WAR 2: RETRIBUTION

http://www.pcgamer.com/the-necron-overlord-is-coming-to-dawn-of-war-2-retribution/

I used to collect Necron miniatures because, not being particularly good at the strategy part, I could nevertheless make a proper nuisance of myself by not staying dead. So, it's with excitement—and some disappointment that Relic wasn't teasing Dawn of War 3—that I see the Necron Overlord will be coming to Dawn of War 2: Retribution in celebration of its fifth anniversary.

PHIL SPENCER CLARIFIES MICROSOFT'S PC GAMING AMBITIONS

http://www.pcgamer.com/phil-spencer-clarifies-microsofts-pc-gaming-ambitions/

With each operating system release, Microsoft becomes suddenly conscious of people using their personal computers to play games, if you can imagine such a thing. What follows are vague assertions of being committed to PC gaming or, worse, Games For Windows, which was only defeated with the copious application of holy water. The cycle continues with Windows 10, with early announcements pledging "a collection of award-winning Xbox game franchises" and dedication to doing more "in the first party". DirectX 12 is the most tangible advancement, but the developers we spoke to on the subject weren't overwhelmed.

PSYONIX LAUNCHES ROCKET LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

http://www.pcgamer.com/psyonix-launches-rocket-league-championship-series/

While I'm disappointed that Psyonix has missed the opportunity to christen 'The Boom League' or 'Hyper Bowl', an official Rocket League Championship Series has been a long time coming.

10 SECOND NINJA IS GETTING A SEQUEL AND REMASTER COMBO

http://www.pcgamer.com/10-second-ninja-is-getting-a-sequel-and-remaster-combo/

I love the purity of 10 Second Ninja. It's a unique, simple concept executed without fuss: you have 10 seconds to clear a nightmarish level of platforms, traps and baddies. Go. Technically you can complete the game's 40 levels in just shy of seven minutes—but you won't.
