Mods aside, I do feel like I'm a second class citizin now.
I have a capable enough windows 8.1 laptop that I don't want to upgrade to 10 after a bad experience upgrading my old laptop. So next to MS making XBox One feel less desirable, they're also making my windows 8.1 experience feel like I might as well be running Mac OS for all they care. Actually the windows store on my 8.1 laptop has been broken for a long time, I never got to try out project spark as it simply will not download, always stuck on preparing. Confidence level is close to 0.

I'll wait and see how this is all going to turn out. For now I have enough of a backlog not to bother with the MS ecosystem and I'm currently most excited about VR. When I replace my laptop in a few years it will come with Windows 10 anyway.

This is a good point that believe was already brought up.  People are acting like Microsoft is now the angel of PC gaming, but PC support should be PC support.  Effectively, they are saying that they aren't supporting their older operating systems.  This really becomes an issues when comparing Vulkan to DX12.  The former supports all the way back to Windows XP (FREAKING XP!) while DX12 only supports Windows 10.  The differnt levels of support from different entities is glaring.
