| CosmicSex said: I think there is a real fear in the PC community of Microsoft's intentions after they attempted to charge for Live on PC. The Steam storefront is actually a lot better as Microsoft addressed this week regarding wanti g to improve it. Plus, there seems to be pessimism about the free to play model. Plus there are many many complaints about Microsoft's past PC support in general. |
It's not really fear (you used this in the last topic you made in regards to PSVR as saying others were fearful of hype, not everything has to be related to just fear), it's about the fact that through history MS has cocked up on their support of PC gamers, this Gaf thread has all their "commitment" ideas and how they went through the years:

History has shown that MS doesn't really have it in their best interests to support an open platform and market let alone mods and those who spend time out of their life to mod said games and even in cases, help to fix them as well (because of folk like Durante who actually do help to sort out games). MS for the longest time has no good stance on modding games, Steam on the other hand as a store/client fully supports a Steam workshop of mods along with games on there generally being able to be modded in another form, then of course there is reshading with Sweetfx which MS also doesn't support.
It's not fear, not from me anyway, just contempt that a company still refuses to co-operate with an open ecosystem and refuses to learn from history, like a spoilt kid who after all these eyars hasn't learned a thing but still wants his way.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
