OT, I dunno about an end to smartphones. Until we start getting implants I can't see any movement away from a rectangualr touchscreen device that makes phonecalls, sends text messages and lets you browse the internet, take photos, shoot home movies, organise your day and a whole bunch of other things.
There has been an attempt with Google Glasses, and MS is having a go with Hololens. But I don't think facewear is going to be a thing.
The question is, what do people want to do with a mobile device that they can't do? Innovation is one thing, but also you need to create or fill a need among consumers.
