I survived fine before mobile phones were invented. Sure, there is a small chance I could have an accident out on a trail that's not frequented too often, and it would be severe enough not to be able to walk out yet not too severe I can still find and operate my phone. I'm willing to take that chance for freedom of mind on my mountain bike excursions. It's very relaxing to be off grid for a while.
