Not important. The important thing is that VR isn't going to be popular. |
Or so some people are hoping upon.
The reality is that PSVR wont overshadow the PS4 controller as the main choice but it could very well be substantially larger than the kinect ever was. Hundreds of developers have already pledged support making games for PSVR much more than kinect or move controller or even 3D tv. In comparison OR/Vive will have really little support from customers because they are so expensive. Basically only the people who have no problem spending $400+ on a single GPU will buy the OR/Vive.
What can MS do about this? Absolutely nothing. They have no 3d device in production and one would take many years to get to market. And the Xbox One is not really powerful even to support OR/Vive. And MS really haven't talked about Halolens recently you know why? The lead engineer for the project was hit and killed by a drunk driver and MS has since then layed off most of the halolens team. The halolens project is most likely on the backburner years from a actual market ready prototype.
So in the end the PS4 will have even another driving force attracting customers towards them and away from Xbox.
