I just realized. Ubisoft are slowly over the years trying to tell you the very definition of insanity, only you actually pay to eventually learn it over a number of years. They've adopted the same idea for all of their games in which they copy the same formula for each game and tweak it slightly but keep repeating the process over and over while making people think things have changed. Of course it also comes to no surprises that they said at one point that they wouldn't make an IP unless they could turn it into a profitable franchise (aka milking an ip for tons of cash till it's dead). Ubisoft is the incarnation of the definition of insanity.

I think this is the problem with Ubisoft games not Far Cry in particular. All their games are following the same exact formula, and while from outside may look very different, at core they are very similar. Ubisoft seems to stick with what works for them, but since it's not working as well recently they might need to mix things up a bit. It doesn't help them that many other games are going open world and oversaturating the market.
