Link has absolutely no personality though. If the fact that he has a theoretical penis and is adressed differently is enough for his daughter to have difficulties "getting closer" to the character, it sounds to me like he is adjusting the game to make his sexist daughter feel more comfortable.
I have no problem getting close to female characters, nor do I have a problem getting close to fat or black characters. If people enjoy a game less because they have a hard time identifying with such characters, I'd say that's an excellent reason for them to play with them to help deal with this issue.
Feminists should be on my side on this issue, but I fear that most of them would rather praise this father blindly without a second thought.
