HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift will have significantly more use cases then the PS VR will. PS VR will be a gaming device and that's about it. The Vive and Rift are already being used in medical, engineering, and other scientific fields.. and this will only grow.. I agree. The PS VR will likely be the widely more used VR.. the "consumer" VR.. But it will not offer the best experience.. PS VR could still fail. I agree that pricing needs to be $299-$399 at most.. hopefully it will be.. more PS4 pricing mentality, and not PS3 lol.

because it is $800.  because unlike i phone who the fuck knows if vr will be the next great thing or an overpriced paper weight.  i mean,.. show me the list of exclusive games coming to these devices.  hell, show me the list of any games coming to these devices.  show me the list of supported services and how those services are better in vr than not in vr.  show me any fucking reason why i should spend $800 that isn't summarized as "imagine the possibilities" because nintendo burned me the fuck out on that line of broken promises.

with a phone the applications and features are already established.  vr is a gamble.

 The kind of Porn you can see now is not the endgame its basically a stitched 360 video. What will be interesting is if you can actually walk through a movie scene and see everything as if you were there. People are working on a cross between videogames and movies that lets you actually see true VR Movies where you can be right in a movie. Walking around, crouching, jumping getting closer to things and moving away hidding behind an movie object etc.  That is a polygon mesh overlayed with real life footage. Filmed with hundreds of cameras from everywhere. A complete scan of a real life scene.

There is no way this will not take off.  But we are not there yet. 10 years down the line we will have a matrix like experience without being able to touch the matrix..
