I never understood this, I never envision myself as the main character in a video game, it's more interesting to see and play through a world in a different perspective. Don't care if the main character is male, female, black, white, hell I don't even care if it's human. Doesn't hinder anything, I can still empathize and understand with the character.
But whatever, do as you wish.
