This example doesn't really matter much but, at the same time, as someone who grew up reading a lot of books, I don't like this very much as some kind of general philosophy. People aren't some kind of homogenized blobs, they're distinct individuals. Experiencing different viewpoints and perspectives in fiction is a GOOD thing. I'd much, much prefer to see a parent encouraging their kid to experience more variety than less. Many of my favorite works as a kid had female protagonists.
