Thats not true, the game is actually way more similar to Naruto games than to Tekken, I think you have not seen many videos of the game becasue the perspective is quite different, you move freely around the camp until you execute some combo or movement that changes this into a 2D kind of movement.

...have you ever seen Tekken Tag Tournament footage? It's exactly that, with slightly faster movement and perspective that locks ocassionally.
