Shareplay is a different feature than digital game share that started on PS3.  The ps4 did carry over digital game share from the PS3,however, it's 2 people on 2 consoles at the same time.  I believe the PS3 allowed more.  Digital game sharing can be on the same console or up to two ps4's simultaneously.

shareplay is a different feature that lets you digital game share remotely by digital couch coop or actually turning the game over to a friend over the Internet

Edit

the Xbox one allows digital game sharing on the same console.  I know people do it on two consoles but I'm not sure that's officially supported.  It was not at one time because it is the main reason I changed from buying two Xbox ones at launch and bought two ps4's because Sony countered MS on it and actually added it to their FAQ as a feature

I can play any games multiplayer with my nephew that i buy digitally. Two different Xbox's. You can only share between consoles 3x in a year tho. Can't go from friend to friend or family member to family member 😂. I tried.

Yeah, I know people do it.  At or near the time of launch it was not a supported feature MS told me.  I'm a stickler about those things because I didn't want to risk my live being banned.  People do it, like I said. By comparison Sony released a statement as a counter that they'd carry digital share over from the PS3 keeping the policy of being able to digitally share on a single console (which is what MS said they'd allow) or simultaneously share a game for two people on up to two different consoles.

That was the deciding factor for myself because I wanted to buy once and play with my son in the same house on two consoles, two different accounts simultaneously on the same game together

this is also when MS went a little crazy and lashed out with their email canceling family plans and reversed their game sharing plans publicly. Phil has stated that they aren't permanently shelved and he was open to talking about being able to digital game share like the ps4 does sometime down the road.  He did not specify how or what form it'd take.

I hope they do reconsider because I'm probably a small market but I'd have two Xbox ones instead of two ps4's if they'd kept their stance at the beginning. Im glad you can play at least a few times a year with your nephew.  Again, that doesn't work for my scenario as I like the unlimited sharing limit I can do with my son. Buy a game once and share as much as I like between two different accounts on up to two different ps4's in the same household.

Edit:

i don't use the shareplay feature but my son does.  It allows him to share a game with anyone (I only allow people we know) as if they own the game (that person doesn't have to purchase the game) over the Internet.  Shareplay doesn't have to be in the same household.   The person you share with doesn't have to own or ever purchase the game if they don't wish.  It actually works extremely well (I have good internet) and is probably one of the coolest features this generation that gets ignored.

He can play a two player game in digital couch coop as if the person were next to him, allow friends to watch him play and toss controller control on the fly during the game allowing them to play the game as if they had a disc in their ps4 and so on.  All without them having to own the game.

l <---- Do you mean this glitch Gribble?  If not, I'll keep looking.
