$50 didn't really help 360 vs PS3, it was the +$100 difference that made an impact, and MS doesn't really have the luxury right now to drop the price by another $50.

I think Xbox will just have to eat this first half of 2016, while PS4 takes a commanding lead. Then they'll be likely to announce the Xbox Slim around June - August (E3 / Gamescom), with a June - September release date at $249, and at that point they'll at least have parity sales will the PS4 for the holiday season, and possibly into 2017 if they have the games to go along with the new price into the first half of 2017.

But then the PS4 will likely have it's very own slim in 2017, and we'll be back at the same situation if not worse, as JP and EU sales blow the last bit of life the competition has in those regions (PS4 already outsold everything combined in EU, and is currently the best selling hardware in JP, though 3DS still owns JP).
