Operating on the assumption that the future will just be a continuation of recent past trends is monumentally nonsensical.

No, it did target specifics demographic groups. Unless they thought that core gamers wanted waggle.

True, I have no idea what the NX is but history tells us that if it targets gamers, they'll lose.

I'm a core gamer, and I quite enjoyed properly-done motion controls. "Waggle" is what third parties mostly did with it.
