Yes, actually they could.   What would Apple have to do to become majority shareholder?  How much would they have to buy?  Can they afford it?  These are the questions you should be asking yourself.   This is hypothetical of course.  No way they would but could they?  Yes.  Remeber this is a hypothetical thread... :)
