He was trying to prove that I shouldn't be fearful/hateful because chicks have done it to men before... at least thats what he ended up doing. Its the kind of logic a child would present to their parents. A false justification. Zim was proving nothing with his flawed logic. Except that he was a jerk. You can never prove a persons emotions wrong because emotions are exactly as a person experiences them. |
Sorry if you feel that way, however that isn't how I saw it.
How I saw it.
You started off by simply stating you don't like Men because they comit rape. (No one at this point could tell you were sexually assualted.)
He says women can do the same thing, and offered up the closest example that has happened to him Sexual Harrasment.
and that women only do it less because of the way things are in the world. (which I agree with.)
Then you said his entire statment was stupid, and that it wasn't the same thing. Suggesting basically that either A. Women don't rape men and that's as far as it goes. or B. What a woman does to a man does not count. Then you brought up a rape and an attempted rape. Which would explain the above ideas somehwat, but would not excuse them.
Then he got pissed off... which I imagine I would be if I offered up cases where I was sexually harrassed and it really bothered me and someone treated it as if it was nothing. (Which is a huuuuuge problem, espiecially among men who are harrased or sexually assalted. As stated in most peoples mindes, men don't get raped by women, they get lucky.)
This also pissed me off and I got involved in the arguement.
If you reread his posts I think you'll see that as well. Reread his posts and it seems fairly obvious that the situations that happened to him actually bothered him. Including the account where a woman tried to slip her hands under his pants. (which i'd call a form of sexual assualt, not as extreme as rape, but it'd right piss me off.)
I see no attempt by him to justify any sort of rape or sexual assault. Just someone who was frustrated at also being hassled and having nowhere to vent and then being even more pissed off when their situations were marginalized as no a big deal.
Had it seemed otherwise I would likely have been on your side of the aguement. This isn't a case of "women do it to" like you find on your usual feminist blog. (by which i mean... just about every single one if you've ever been to one. It's quite a headache.)
