Definitely not the same game. Tomb Raider lacks the charm and the gameplay is slower paced than Uncharted. Cinematics also aren't on Uncharted's level (which is okay, since that's most games anyway). As I said above, though, Uncharted needs nothing from Tomb Raider to continue being great! Tomb Raider is great, as well, but for completely different reasons.

I'll give Uncharted the edge on charm, Naughty Dog is one of the most notable studios for story telling. Gameplay though... not as strong.

If anything, I think Uncharted would benefit from Tomb Raider's focus on exploration and more dynamic combat. You sound content with linear enviornments and gallery shooting with bullet sponge enemies, but I'd like to see Uncharted become more ambitious with something other than graphics.

You do know that naughty dog are considered the masters of storytelling and gameplay and arguably even graphics. All their games are heralded as masterpieces ... Crystal Dynamics not so much. Tomb Raider had to be rebooted for a reason. 'Open' gameplay really only serves to hide bad storytelling and gameplay mechanics. Imagine if the next GTA was 'linear' you'd quickly grow bored of its bad storyline and swallow gameplay...but its 'open world' so no one will ever know. Bottom line 'linear' games require the best storylines and gameplay. The last of us is universally considered the best game to come out last gen.
