Actually, both parties are to blame. If you want to talk about the economic crash of 2008 specifically, Republicans are partly to blame because a lot of them knew what was up but because they were buddies with the folks on Wallstreet, they didn't do much to inform the public about what was going to happen. It also didn't help that many of them probably owned stock in the companies that would be affected had anyone broken the news about an imminent economic collapse. They hoped that the market would somehow fix itself. Democrats on the other hand started it all back during the Carter administration. There was a demand by Carter and other Dems at the time that banks start making it easier for low income people to be approved for loans to get a house. Due to government pressure, banks had started approving loans that they knew people would never be able to pay off. The individuals who approved the loans figured that their asses would be covered if they only had a few bad loans here and there and they would still get their commission so they didn't give a shit. So this goes on for three decades and right before you know it, the shit hits the fan. As for these financial institutions who were "too big to fail"? Both major parties agreed that they were.
So the moral of the story is that voting Republicans or Democrats in and out of office, haivng one replace the other every few years is pointless because the results will still be the same. Vote for a third party and end the 150 year political monopoly that has ruined America.
