Almost yearly releases of CoD and AC games are basically worst thing in gaming industry today, nobody wants that. Games like Mario Kart, Smash Bros (and now Splatoon) are one game per generation (per platform), thats reason why even today those games are so popular and great. Also they showed now that they will support those games with updates and new contents for long time.

Same architecture, same way of programing and developing, same OS, game development kits...basically making one game for one platform but for two devices in same time. Final result, MK NX developed in much smaller time for one unified platform than developing 2 MK seperate games for separate platforms. Something similar Nintendo already done with Smash for 3DS and Wii U but that requires much more time and resources than it will be required on NX because 3DS and Wii U are totally separate platforms. Its very simple logic and basically clear math, I don't understand how you dont see that.

Because 2 teams used to develop 2 Mario Karts for 2 different platforms is quicker. Now you are building 1 Mario Kart for 2 different platforms. It will take longer. It is very simple logic.

Basically Mario Kart 9 will take longer to make than Mario Kart 8, which in turn was longer to make than Mario Kart 7. You can say Mario Kart 9 will take less time to develop than 7+8, but you're also only getting one Mario Kart.

Thats a whole point because we dont need two MK games on two platforms, we need just one MK on one platform, difference in time and resource that is needed to develop two different MK games for different platforms will be used for another project or game, so we will have more games for one platform than for each platform separate. It so simple but you from some reason don't see it.
