Good to see you understood that handheld games does not belong on my argument. On top of that, you are forgetting the gap between Alttp and OoT. But as I have explained before, every one of them was different (except Alttp as I ignore why de big dev cycle).
Anyway, if you want to play that game, I will still win:
Alttp was released so far from Zelda II, and even so, it's not the same situation. The predecessor of Zelda II was not released 5 years before, but less than 2. The predecessor of Zelda HD was released on another console 5 years before.
Next one, OoT. The game was intended to be released in 1996, then delayed to 1997 and finally 1998. Even so, Miyamoto wanted to delay further, but Yamauchi's common sense make him stop Miya's wishful thinking. The game was developed to run on the N64 DD (hackers has found the title screen) as the game was developed with bigger scope in mind. As the time was over them, they decided to lower the game and make it fit on the N64 cartdrige. 2 expansions born from it: Zelda Ura (unreleased) and Zelda Gaiden (Majora's Mask late, when Aonuma took the project). During all the time in development and after many delays, they never stop showing the game. Even if the gap was big, they were always giving us screenshots and footage. Plus, it was the first attempt for a 3D game. Anyway, the game came out 2 years after the N64 launch, not 4 like Wii U, or 5 like Wii.
Next one, SS. Basically, the game was very deep in development. Some monkey decided that motion plus was need to be implemented in Zelda Wii, and rather than release the developed game and after it reuse assets and develop a new one with the motion plus in mind and all the unused ideas (like OoT-MM), the took the wrong way to invest even more money and throw part of their work away to develop the same one with the motion plus as the main feature.
Finally, Zelda HD is the worst one. Not a propper trailer. Not a name. Not a public demo. And that is 4 years and 4 months after the release of SS.
So no, the situation is not the same. Saying it is just because without all of this circumstances is just trying to defend their lazyness.
PS: Oh, and TP-WW was 4 years, but TP was ready in 2005. The delay was only for the Wii version as Aonuma admitted.
