How many is a lot btw?, how much of the entire PC userbase are we talking here?.
All the PC guys I know don't pirate and have hundreds of games on Steam as well as GoG.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
