There are still many  people who don't know how to carry out a rational conversation without using "I'm offended" or "that's (blank)" as a cop-out argument.

I would argue that most people aren't having serious political arguments on a regular basis. I'd also argue that not being a particuallarly good debater doesn't make someone a bad person or mean that they don't know how to be nice to one another.

Plus, if we're worried about "that's offensive" or "that's racist" being used as cop-out arguments...I'd say that they simply get thrown onto a pretty big pile.
