Splatoon may have sold more on Wii, but Wii U was not a problem for it to sell 4M. MK is almost at 8M. The Wii U was not a problem for those games, why it was for DKTF?

Because outside of it's first game, DK isn't as big as Mario Kart, so of course it isn't going to sell as much no matter what system they're on. Splatoon is basically Mario Kart for shooters. Over 1 million sold on a 12 million base is still great anyway. Now stop diverting from my main point, being that Metroid would not have been a better decision, only a worse one, based on your own criteria.

And Splatoon was a new IP not bigger than MK, yet it pulled impressive numbers.

Metroid could have been worse, or could have been better. The only thing we know now is that Tropical Freeze was a bad decision.

Well the awnser for that question is quite simple actually, DKTF is not a multiplayer game.

Yes, it has a 2-player mode but its clearly not developed for that purpose.

Look at the Top 10 best selling WiiU games, look how many don't have multiplayer. You have your awnser.

Then why Mario Party 10 didn't sell as good?
