The thing is some games have to go in beta and have loads of folk testing and playing it other than not talking a peep about it, pulling some millions upon millions of pounds in marketing, only for the game to come out in bad shape or completely not what was expected. With early access (the good oens), you are giving devs the info needed to make the game better than simply having a released game with 2 patches and being left to rot (looking at thos KT PC ports which are supposed to be of AAA outstanding seal of approval Japanese quality and yet they aren't).

The fact Starbound is on Beta for so long is concerning, and PS chooses not to sell Betas, which if dropped will give them a headache, and Starbound is far too long on Beta, that's it, that's why it didn't came, and if it was supposed to come back in 2014 it was because it was supposed to be getting out of Beta and it's 2016 and it still didn't, that's it, PS don't have an early access program, it sell complete games.

As I said, it's a shame Starbound went that way, I can and do understand alpha and beta phases, but I don't like when it reaches Beta and keeps that way, it not properly releasing a final build, which can be expanded and polished by the way, it's a shame.

I don't think you have to worry about Starbound, haha. It's still going well and strong, still updating and adding more cool things. The final thing will release at some point in time, and it may be pretty great~
