They would have if the Wii U didn't fail, hence me saying it's the Wii U's fault. I didn't say TF was a failure , because it's not, unless you mean in terms of selling Wii Us, in which case every Wii U game ever is a failure, and every game on it including the already multimillion sellers would sell even more had there been a significant base to sell to. I can only imagine how much better Splatoon and MK8 would have done had they been on a Wii sized installbase. |
Splatoon may have sold more on Wii, but Wii U was not a problem for it to sell 4M. MK is almost at 8M. The Wii U was not a problem for those games, why it was for DKTF?

So basically what you can expect from Goodfeel is just an average platform game with cute graphics. I guess yearly mediocre Mario Parties, yearly Mario Sports games, yearly Mario RPGs are also ok because those studios aren't able to make pretty much anything else. The problem I see here is from Nintendo and how they manage their own teams, not from Retro. You have so low expectations from many of thier japanese studios that Retro is supposed to make up for their incompetence and release the games they aren't able to make. But that's something a single studio can't realistically do atm. If Nintendo started to take on more ambitious projects with all their teams, you wouldn't have the problem to put Metroid, F-zero or new IP creation on hiatus. |
Or they could have released an impressive game like Xenoblade X. They don't need to compensate anything. Again, nobody is saying DK is a bad game, but that was not what people was expecting and the game failed to impress or sell high amounts like the people that defended the game guaranteed.
