I get what you're saying, but I really think changes are necessary and people shouldn't complain a lot about it (unless they think the change is for worse). If they kept the same turn-based combat forever it would probably hurt the franchise (in terms of sales and relevance). Plus, if some fans really want the same thing all over again... there are already almost 10 FF games that do that... just replay them.

They aren't necessary though, FF gameplay just needed to evolve, not be replaced. Long standing game series have had success based on the traditional gameplay that made them popular. Compare Street Fighter now to 20 years ago, sure, it's prettier, there are more 'supers' but in essence it's still a 2d fighter, a hadouken is still quarter cirle + punch. It's evolved and for the better.

I guess as a fan, I'm not allowed to have a game that plays like 4-9 with graphics of a modern game because 4-9 exist already? I guess I can just continue playing Street Fighter 2 too right?

Street Fighter is on its 5th main game tho, Final Fantasy is on its 15th. Btw, the fighting genre is much more limited than a RPG, maybe that's why they are not so hot anymore; I mean, your example, SFV, needed help from Sony to get funded.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won
