I don't remember the name but there is a powerful fire magic that can 2 hit kill each of those Maneaters, you have to upgrade some good amount of magic and mana to be able to use that magic if you pick a melee class, but there is this option.
You can just prepare the wand and magic, enter the fog, the first will start coming running to you, wait for it to reach a good distance or go for it to make it quicker and use it, if you know the timing well you'll basically kill it right there and take no hits, then just run or roll if you are light enough, and stick to the center of the circular platform between the two bridges, recover some mana and keep and eye in the man eaters, and just use the magic behind the wall there and you can still hit them most of the time if you know the range of the magic well, if not, go around a little and lure one to start trying to hit you, make him miss and wait for your chance and cast the spell and hide behind the wall again to recover the mana.
With magic you can easily kill those two without taking a single hit and much trouble.

My build wasn't suitable for that.
They really should give you a one-time (per character/save) only respec in these games.
