In demon souls, you can beat one of the maneater bosses with arrows by just standing in the fog.

I read about that but didn't want to do it

Oh and really the Maneaters are unfair because the terrain is used against you?! Yeah that's kinda the point lol. Not everything has to be hard the same way.

But there are enjoyable ways and others that aren't. I already referenced Orphan of Kos as an example and it can be used again, despite the large area there is still one element of the terrain you have to be wary of, the Great one in the middle that sends lightning at specific moments. Plus BB's controls are better, more refined and the performance seems more stable too. I also prefer when terrain can be used both against you and in your favor (Blood starved beast, pillars can be a much needed relief or they can be your death). Technically every design decision should have that foundation of going both ways (again in the case of the Orphan, if he screeches when close to you you can get some quick hits in before worrying about dodging the bolts) and generally it does work like that in Souls games, but again, the Maneater boss is an example of where they failed to keep that up. The only thing I saw to be taken advantage of was glitching their AI, or the method above..which is obviously not a good thing. It should be within the game's bounds.

More BB examples of switching up difficulty is Laurence (1st phase vs 2nd), or comparing Orphan of Kos/Maria/Gascgoigne with Abhorrent Beast/Darkbeast Paarl (most beasts, really, except blood starved). No need to be uncreative and put you in a tiny space, work on the bosses movesets/weaknesses/transformations instead.
