Still no solid numbers so I wouldn't say with confidence that Sony's "profit margin" is lower than Nintendo's.

If you look at most Fiscal Year reports you'll see that Sony profit margins are very smaller than Nintendo

Sony revenue Q3: 2,580.8 B Yen for a profit of 202B Yen or 120B Yen for shareholders.... 8% or 4,7% depending on where you look... and that was a record quarter for Sony

Nintendo revenue FY15: 549,8B Yen profit for 24B Yen and 42B Yen for shareholders... 4,3% or 7,6% on a bad year. ... on 2011 1,014.35B Yen revenue for 171,1B Yen profit and 77,6B Yen net... 17% or 7,6%

On general Nintendo show better margins than Sony, it's actually one of the proud points Nintendo fans bring on the site.

Numbers! Good ol' numbers! Math is a lovely thing.

I think this is the first I've heard of this. I generally don't make a habit out of looking up financials.

Good to know.

It's been a runing topic on the forum to say that Sony is a lot bigger than Nintendo, but Nintendo makes a lot more profits. Also had the discussion that gaming department of Sony is very inferior than Nintendo on profits as well.

One thing I'll never understand from customer is the proud of the company they buy having gigantic Margins... like some people here talk proudly of Nintendo expending 20M to make a game that will generate 500M revenue while laughing at a Sony game that costed 100M and had revenue of 150M.

I would feel extorted as a Nintendo customer and pleased as a Sony customer if those were the numbers. Because first case shows that I'm paying much more than what the product should cost and on second it's a acceptable margin. Even though I have several games that were probably unprofitable and I'm happy they were made even so.

Why would you feel extorted? I assume when you purchase a game, you look at the price of the game and make a decision of your own free will before actually purchasing said game. If you don't agree to the price of the game, whether you disagree because you think the game isn't good enough or because the company you're buying from is making too much money, don't buy the freaking game.
