| exdeath said: I enjoyed the first Gears and the whole twist that YOU are the invading monster and not the other guys. But it's not in the same ballpark as some of the other games I mentioned, hell it ain't even the same damn sport. Yes... stealing lines from Pulp Fiction lol. My beef with gears is the first was pretty ground breaking and set some standards at a time when it seemed we would never see a co-op game ever again, and the first one was great. But then 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 etc etc etc and they just wore it out and drug it through the mud and it became the poser child for "dudebro". As far as story goes, all that can be said is it ... has "a" story I guess. It's definately not saucer eyed jaw open full body numb shaking hands hairs standing on end revelations like some JRPGs (Xenogears cough) :D |
What does "dudebro" mean? I see it used alot. I don't really see how a trilogy and spinoff that didn't please many wore it out, not to mention that original Gears is the least story driven of them. What was that twist you mentioned, I just played Ultimate Edition but don't recall that?
I agree it's not a story you describe, but I just wouldn't want every story to be like that. Sometimes you just want that Woody Allen movie, simple down-to-earth kind a stuff with some nice themes around it :)
edit. this is going offtopic :P
