I think the world would be a boring place if we all cuddled and sipped tea over a biscuit by the fire.
Some people can't handle confrontation. Personally I'm more of a lover than a fighter but every now and then I love seeing a good first fight down the pub. We're humans at the end of the day, not robots programmed to spread love and peace.
If people arguing over gaming machines upsets you. You probably shouldn't read gaming forums (especially if they are sales focused sites).
