He is responsible for his own actions. If only hearing your side of the story made him believe Xbox One is better and made him make the purchase, he only has himself to blame in the event that he ends up enjoying it less than he would have enjoyed a PS4. After all, he presumably had plenty of opportunities to do some research on his own and form a more educated opinion.
Hopefully he will learn not to trust you in the future.
