If we use the actions of the few as cultural determinants or templates for larger population demographics, I wonder how we'd be regarded if that same line of reasoning were applied to us. The crisis in the Middle East is Dr. Ronald Reaganstein's monster running loose in the village and there are many, many nations that have aided, abetted and enabled its creation. Sooner or later the day comes when you can't hide from the things you've done anymore.

Not only is it the moral imperative of the Free World to help refugees in a time of crisis (there is an Article in the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights clearly stating that these people have the basic human right to flee the region), doing so, at the very least, demonstrates accountability for the actions or inaction that resulted in this.

Keep bringing them in, keep treating them as you would treat your own neighbors, and deal with the individuals--not their group--when those people cause problems. This is not a case of Us vs Them, it is a case of Us AND Them; confusing that will only make things worse for everybody.
