Also, I think Sony should lower the price too soon. The company as a whole could certainly use the extra bucks from the higher price after the financial problems they faced in the last years

I think they will cut the price again this fall but i could be wrong. Personally if i was Sony i would cut the price with Uncharted 4 launch and then release the slim version this fall with the same price or at 289$.

I agree, another $50 price cut this fall is highly likely.

There's 2 ways to look at the PS4 slim situation. They will use it to increase sales and lower PS4 production costs in which case they could release this year. If their are going to rely on software and new lower retail price to carry them through the year, let a potential Xbox One slim take the limelight and slim down strictly when PS4 sales start to dip, then next year is more likely.

I'm going with the former and guess they will probably slim the PS4 down a few times this gen.

I agree.

One of the reasons that i think Sony would like to release this year the PS4 is the big competition. There is the arrival of the NX which is rumored for the fall and the rumored slim version of Xbone (along with a price cut probably). Xbone will have Gears 4 and some other first/party games and NX will be the new thing in town. This is probably the last chance Xbone has to come clost to PS4 sales so i think they will go all out with Gears 4. From the other hand Sony would release the biggest game U4 in April and for fall they probably have Horizon and GTsport along with some other first/third party game. Compared to the others their lineup doesn't seem so attractive right now but this was also the case with this fall lineup and they Sony still won. It's still early to jump to conslusions, we are still in January. Things will clear up probably at E3.
