I wouldn't mind, but aren't SD cards more expensive than bluray as well?

Maybe just a little, Flash memory is becoming dirt cheap and when you buying millions of SD cards directly from manufacturer they are much more cheaper, also Nintendo could include wide variety of size of SD cards, from 4GB to 64GB depends on size of a game, you currently have Wii U games that have size from 2GB to 32GB.

True enough, but even if the cards are $1 more expensive than making a bluray, with as many millions of games Nintendo sells it would definilty add up. And no matter what, it would be far more expensive than ditching physical media altogether, and not having to need shelf space for games, or shipping costs, or manufacturing costs. Plus getting all third parties on board with getting a device to write to these memory cards (though that should probably be a part of the dev kits correct?...), and purchasing the cards... I don't know...

I'm just a little skeptical. It seems strange....

Having a proprietary card for games would cut back on piracy though....

$1 more expansive dont mean nothing if that is whole point of your next platform. Why you will not have shelf space for games!? 3DS has shelf space for games, this will be similar. I think for 3rd party won't be problem at all on which device they will write games.

Basicly you alredy have all this on 3DS, but this time it will be on home console too.

Also SD card means no optical drive and console that will be smaller and that need less power, all that means cheaper console and far more reliable console than any console with optical drive.

You have made great points for the vs bluray, agreed. They could corner the market on the first console with a 4K disk player, but that's definitely not Nintendo so that's not even a point.

But as far as download only it isn't about not having shelf space, it's a cost benefit from not needing shelf space. If it's a download only console, they would save the costs of needing shelf space. This also applies to the console needing less power and being smaller. All still true if it is a download only console.
