is mgs4 getting more hyped than halo 3 was?

I have exactly the same experience as you. So my answer to the original question is also no.

 Honestly though GTA4 had more hype then Halo 3.... as far as the people around me were talking.  People i didn't even know owned videogame systems were talking about that.
