I don't own any but I used to own both, I'll admit dogs are much more loyal than cats. Whether you like to admit it or not, cats are noway near as intelligent as dogs and the fact is they only stay with you because they see you as the person who's feeds them. Cats simply use you for that reason, the minute a stranger family starts giving your cat food which it prefers and does it regularly that cat will go to them and never think of you again. This happened when I was younger, my parents bought an expensive cat (a Russian blue) cost them £600. Turned out a family new of this breed and wanted it themselves, they started feeding the cat aswell (we didn't know about it till a neighbour told us) in the end the cat didn't come back for 4 days and we finally found her in their garden sitting on the step waiting to go in the house! We got her back and the family tried to say they thought it was a stray so started givin it food (pure bullshit). But it shows how loyal cats are, basically they're not.

A dog on the other hand is more intelligent and genuinely will grow a proper bond with its owner, once that bond is there it will follow and listen to that person, it will stay by their side until it dies.
