We are the only species to ever exist on Earth with the ability to prevent their own extinction and yet some people seem hell bent on ensuring that happens.

But our climate related deaths have continuously fallen throughout history as we've gained access to greater and greater supplies of cheap, plentiful energy, as we have more capacity to do work to mitigate the harshness of the environment the earth gave us, essentially we've continuously improved our environment with the use of fossil fuels.

Well that's true but that's only the bright side of fossile fuels from an era where it's global impact where limited due to the quantities that was being used.
