I went for a PS4 at launch due to the original direction of the Xbox One at E3 but then eventually bought a Xbox One in 2015 of which I sold my PS4 to fund the purchase. The reason I did this is I realised I was actually looking forward to Microsoft's E3 conference more than I did Sony's and I didn't even own a Xbox One at the time.
PlayStation has always been about the third party for me where as Microsoft has been about their first party, I also began to think about how poor the recent JRPG scene has become and thought well I'm not really missing anything from not owning a PS4. I since bought a Second PS4 and became a multi console owner again but that didn't last long as I sold it again. Will probably get another in the future but PS4 has had a really slow start this gen.
There really isn't much reason to own both a PS4 +X1 imo and even if people start warming to the prospect of the opposite console its still a really hard buy to own them both.
