It took be MONTHS to find a job and I finally found a job this month, it's not actually a full time job yet, but I'm on call 24/7 so I'm ready all time to go to work. Now that I'm making money, I have can buy any game I want. But it sucks so much that this great opportunity will be gone since I'll be going to University. I have a HUGE passion for video games and been playing all my life. Most of my fun times in High School was because of video games. I cant imagine my life without video games for a few years. I WOULD SUFFER. Have anyone ever played games in University or College? before?? |
I had the same fears back when I was in High School: I loved my late nights gaming and I was worried that I would have to give them up completely in University. The truth is, though, that while you will have less time for gaming, you will always find time for the things that you are passionate about.
Depending on how demanding your degree is, a lot of people will probably tell you that you won't have time (or money) for gaming because they didn't. What they aren't telling you, though, is that they still had time to party on weekends and do all kinds of extra-curricular activities that consumed their free time and money. The reality is that unless you are trying to get admitted into Medicine or you are going to be working a part time job in addition to school, you will still have some free time. Even in a particularly challenging undergrad program, unless you are going for absolute top marks, 10 - 15 hours of free time each week is totally reasonable (and healthy) to aim for. And that's not even counting the large spans of time when you won't even be taking classes.
The bigger question, though, is: will your passion remain gaming throughout college? A lot of changes happen during this time and I had friends who met their significant others during their degrees and so their passions changed tremendously. I think given how passionate you are about gaming, it will always be a part of your life but it may have to share the spotlight with more important extra-curricular priorities as time goes on. :)
