EA ABANDONS UNRAVEL TRADEMARK APPLICATION AFTER USPTO REJECTS IT

http://www.pcgamer.com/ea-abandons-unravel-trademark-application-after-uspto-rejects-it/

I'm really looking forward to playing Unravel, the yarn-based puzzle-platformer being developed by Coldwood Interactive and EA. But I may never get to play it—at least not by that name. As noticed by NeoGAF's all-seeing eye, the US Patent and Trademark Office has refused to register EA's Unravel trademark application, and the filing now stands abandoned.

GILLIAN ANDERSON HAS A LAUGH IN NEW STAR CITIZEN VIDEO

http://www.pcgamer.com/gillian-anderson-has-a-laugh-in-new-star-citizen-video/

The new Squadron 42: Behind the Scenes video featuring Gillian Anderson of X-Files fame is fun not because of what it tells us about the single-player campaign for Star Citizen or the work that's going into it, but because of Anderson's visible amusement (and bemusement) about the whole thing. She takes the work seriously—she's a pro—but she's very all too aware of the fact that she's running around in her long underwear, waving a toy gun at imaginary space monsters.

UNDERTALE UPDATE SEEMS TO INCLUDE SOME SORT OF SECRET NEW CONTENT

http://www.pcgamer.com/undertale-update-seems-to-include-some-sort-of-secret-new-content/

Undertale creator Toby Fox said back in November that it was unlikely that any forthcoming patch “will contain anything other than bugfixes.” And that appeared to be the case with the update that was released on Steam yesterday, which promises to “fix bugs and increase compatibility,” but nothing more. Nonetheless, the sharp-eyed members of the Undertale subreddit have determined that there may be more going on than meets the eye.

OVERWATCH CLOSED BETA WON'T RETURN UNTIL FEBRUARY

http://www.pcgamer.com/overwatch-closed-beta-wont-return-until-february/

Everyone was sad when the Overwatch closed beta took a break in December, but it came with the assurance that it'd return in the not too distant future. While Blizzard indicated that it could return as soon as this month, game director Jeff Kaplan has put that expectation to rest, writing in a new blog post that it won't return until next month – and for good reason.

Five Nights at Freddy's World – a colourful, non-scary, RPG spin-off of the horror series – was scheduled to release next month. As is often the case with Five Nights at Freddy's games, that release date hasn't been kept. In fact, it's moved forward. The game is available right now.

NECROPOLIS GETS FOUR-PLAYER CO-OP AND A MARCH LAUNCH DATE

http://www.pcgamer.com/necropolis-gets-four-player-co-op-and-a-february-launch-date/

Harebrained Schemes, the studio known for resurrecting Shadowrun and, more recently, Battletech, announced the stylish, action-focused roguelike Necropolis in late 2014. It's maintained a relatively low profile since then, avoiding even the bounteous money-fields of Kickstarter, but today the studio revealed that it will launch on Steam on March 17, and even better, that it will support co-op multiplayer for up to four treasure-hungry spelunkers.

ELITE DEVELOPER FRONTIER FOCUSING ON STEAMVR OVER OCULUS

http://www.pcgamer.com/elite-developer-frontier-focusing-on-steamvr-over-oculus/

For a time, Oculus Rift Dev Kit owners enjoyed being able to play Elite: Dangerous through the eyes of a pilot. Then the news came that Frontier were struggling to make Elite play nice with SDK 0.7, and although it can be made to behave on 0.8, it's not the simplest solution. Now, Frontier has confirmed that Rift support is no longer top priority, in preference of SteamVR.
