Small point of order; some are saying that Wind Waker HD is just a lighting and resolution upgrade over the Gamecube original.

That's not actually true; it also features higher resolution textures than the original and a bunch of technical additions like ambient occlusion, anisotropic filtering, anti-aliasing, etc.

A lot of work went into WWHD's visual overhaul.

Actually if you look head to head comparison you will see that WW HD textures are basically same (but reality is that WW has very simple textures and didnt need upgrade). Yes there is ambient occlusion, anisotropic filtering, anti-aliasing, but biggest improvement and why game looks beautiful is better lightning system, and reason for that is art style that aged great.

Now look head to head comparison of TP, you will see much bigger improvement in textures (espacily floor textures). TP also has ambient occlusion, anisotropic filtering, anti-aliasing, even better lighting, but TP art style aged terribly, so even with all those improvements it still looks bad in comparison with WW HD.

And no, even better lighting would not make huge difference for TP HD and even then certainly could not compare with WW HD because better lighting cant fix terrible ages art style.

Some people look at WW HD and then they look at TP HD and say TP HD is lazy port, but reality is that TPHD actually required more time and resources than WW HD but still looks better because has art style that aged great while TP art style aged terribly. Could TP HD look better, probably, but not much better and definatly nothing that could compare with WW HD.

"WWHD's textures are basically the same"

Wrong.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-wind-waker-hd-and-gamecube-remasters

"Textures are created from the game's original designs and displayed at a far higher resolution than was ever possible GameCube"

Also, a bunch of shitty photoshop filters are not an adequate representation of the difference between a DX7 era lighting system and a DX11/10 one.

You have WW head to head comparison I include, and definitely textures look almost same, while in TP case in head to head comparison you will see huge difference (especially in floor textures).

Also even with DX11/10 lighting system there will not be big difference same effect like on WW HD because art style that aged terrible.

Because of this Eurogamer article, I can't wait to see what they have to say about TP HD upgrade.
