Dragon Quest VIII is a great game, I love it. Great Cell Shaded graphics, music, character voice acting and gameplay.
I haven't played many others, other than Final Fantasy, but I hear Valkyrie Profile 2: Slimeria is good, as is Star Ocean: Till The End Of Time.
