i hate difficulty settings personally.

I don't know how many of you actually play the same game on different settings but it has a massive impact on if the game is "fun" or not. flying through a game that is waaaay to easy is no more fun that getting stonewalled in a game that is waaay to hard. and the worst part about a difficulty setting is in almost every game that supports an option forces you to restart the game if you decide later you picked the wrong option.

and then some games are just plain uneven. i was awesome at dead space except for that stupid asteroid blasting section where i died over and over and over and over again. i needed to be at the higher difficulty for most of the game but when i when to the highest difficulty i couldn't get past that part.

listen,.. there is a "science of fun". the most fun is had when the game is challenging but not insurmountable. what games should do is track your actions and depending on how amazing/terrible you are adjust the game's difficulty to match the players skill level during the gameplay.

but fuck difficulty options.
