As a consumer, I'm having fun with the 8th gen.
Tech/performance-wise, just about every game I've played on the PS4 is nice and sharp thanks to a native 1920x1080 render and frame rates run between 30-60fps, which is what I had with 7th gen (time frame wise) comparable gaming PCs, without any of the hassle of having to build, upgrade and do system maintenance myself.
Essentially, the 8th gen has bumped me off PC gaming almost completely with no significant drawbacks.
Would I have liked to have seen more new 8th gen franchises? Not even a question. More is always better because it means more gaming options even though I found myself abandoning most of the 7th gen created franchises between the 2nd and 3rd games.
But for what it is and what console gaming has become, I'm not complaining. I buy what I like, I watch/read reviews of what I don't know that's coming out and I skip anything I don't feel like supporting or playing. It's very simple.
