You know I actually think it's been an amazing start for this generation! For all the things the op listed that are bad I can think of an equal number of things that are great.
Some examples-
-the rise of steam and the return of a healthy PC gaming market
-A very healthy home console market; vs the doom and gloom so many were predicting
-More quality games being released than I can even play, and of a wider variety than we've ever seen. Seriously it's crazy how many good games there are and how many are coming!
-The return of dream sequels and projects like; a completely remade Oddworld, FFVII remake, Shenmu 3, Last Guardian, Ratchet and Clank, Yooka Laylee, Blood Stained, Psyconauts 2, Dreams, etc.
-Strong consumer rejection of draconian anti consumer bs and measurable repercussions for the company that tried to impose them. Hope second place teaches them their lesson!
-A replacement of the mid-tier box product with what I consider to be a vastly more impressive indi game scene
-A steady move toward actual VR- by the way if you haven't tried it your comments on the subject are invalid because I have and it's AMAZING!!!
