To be honest, the last time that I was absolutely engrossed in game was with Mortal Kombat: Armageddon's Konquest mode (this was in 2013). There was something about it that absolutely captivated me. Other times recently before that were King's Field, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Metal Gear Solid 2. However, there are times when I really enjoy a game without becoming completely engrossed, it happened to me last year with Persona
Edit: Actually, it was probably in early 2014 with Tekken Hybrid (Tekken Tag Tournament HD) that I was last completely engrossed.
