I dont know if SEGA would have come up with the side scrolling, battery back up saving, the arrow pad, shoulder buttons, rumbling control, etc etc, Gaming would have stayed in the gutter, which would have led to decades of bored teenagers absorbed in TV/Home Video Violence which would have led to a very violent everyday living which obviously would have caused local authorities to be unable to perform it's duties therefore bringing chaos to the civilized world in which education took a backseat to survival and territory conquering which pretty much meant World War 3 which only could have ended with a total use of nuclear missiles by the USSR and US government which would have destroyed humanity in its entirety.
