Totally. Nobody is obliged to give a shit about something if it's not their problem. I wouldn't ask them to. The problem arises when people go around demanding that others not care either.

We each get to choose for outselves what we care about, and how much we care about it. A simple "I'm not bother by it" or "I don't think it's an issue and here's why..." is just fine. But increasingly often the response comes in the form of "Stop caring about that thing! I know for a fact it's not worth caring about because I personally don't care about it! *mic drop*"
